Have you noticed the quite vast difference in number of cat versus dog training sites there appear when you do a search? Well I certainly have since I recently adopted a kitty and am determined to train her to walk with me and maybe even to do some fun tricks.

Dog training courses and sites are everywhere. I guess maybe there are fewer for kitties because cats are of a much more independent nature and, therefore, more difficult to train. Whereas dogs love to make us happy; cats expect us to make them happy…LOL!

Canine Training Opportunities

Doggos have lots of choices. Agility training is, I believe, one of the best. I wrote an article on Agility classes in the past and you can link to it here. What I like about it is it’s a great way to bond with your fur friend and you can use it right in your own backyard or join a local group offering classes. But also there are many additional online and in-person professional trainers and courses available.

Spruce Pets review site writes about their top eight picks for canine training in 2024 and they are all mentioned in my post Pet Training and Education. So singling out eight great training spots tells you there must be many more to take a look at for your doggos.

Training and interacting with your fur buds is probably the best way to keep them alert and happy…and far from sleepy boredom and inactivity. See some training tips in “Train Your Dog”.

Feline Training Offerings

My previous post mentions a free e-book by the Humane Society with info on training both cats and dogs. It hold 27 pages with links to more training articles.

Also Maddie’s Fund is one I have used in the past for an online course on felines with a quiz you can take.

And my older post mentions CatSchool.co who is headed by an animal behaviorist. You can sign up online for just $25 per month.

Another good source I use is Tufts Catnip and their monthly newsletter. They provide tons of care and training tips for your kitty.

My most recent find to help train my kitty is ‘Crazy K Farm‘ and their Kitty Holster! This must be the sixth harness I have purchased and the ONLY one she can not get off of her bod. Check the Kitty Holster out pictured above. It has a pamphlet included with steps on training a kitty to walk with you! I have to say, “I am in heaven with this find”.

Feathered Friend Pet

If you have a feathered friend, they benefit from training with you as much as your fur buddies. And in that regard, there are a few good resources cited for their education in “Pet Training and Education” linked above.

This month being designated for “Pet Training and Education” take the opportunity to spend some extra time with your pet buds and challenge yourself as well to teach them a new trick.

Recall Notice

Please remember to check for pet food recalls on our FDA.org site to safeguard your fur buddies.

Funny Animal

From Big Geek Daddy enjoy some lifeguard dogs.

Second up is “This is your internet…”

And third we have a look at California wildlife.

Thanks
