Pet stairs can, without a doubt, be a life changer for senior animals, animals with mobility issues, wounded or recovering animals, and animals with joint issues for example. I wrote about pet stairs and reviews back in 2020 and 2021. So it appears to be time to find some good updated info, especially with Change a Pet’s Life Day showing up yearly on January 24th.
Independent Reviewers
My first post asked: “Does your pet suffer when climbing?” It explained the particulars included in pet stairs and one review sites findings: Best Reviews. The second post was an update and included three review sites on pet stairs: Best Reviews, The Spruce Pets, and My Pet Needs That. All independent reviewers. Further down the road here, I will go over recent reviews from Best Reviews and The Spruce Pets. My Pet Needs That is not showing any recent info, so I am going with Pure Wow’s most recent independent 2024 reviews.
Since I only recommend USA-made and sourced products, those are the only stairs I will include here. As noted previously, we have the strictest manufacturer standards for both safety and quality.
Let’s go over the many varied type of stairs today and the materials offered to adjust to different age, weight, and size of animal.
Stair Variables
There are quite a few variables to take into account when you are purchasing pet stairs. They come as foldable, in different widths, with water repellent steps, with cushioned steps, with non-slip steps, with carpeted steps, in 2, 3, and 4 step formations, and ramps, great for vehicles. Materials for stairs include wood, tough plastic, and soft padding.
So it is a must to take into consideration your pet’s weight, size, and condition. Do you need stairs or a ramp for a high bed, or high sofa. Do you need good durability for a large pet? Best take measurements you need before purchasing too low or too narrow a set of stairs or ramp. And do note the weight limitations.
USA-made Pet Stair Reviews
Best Reviews
For 2025 Best chose USA Pet Safe’s CozyUp Folding Steps as one of their top 5 picks for pet stairs. Their reasoning being these steps are easy to use anytime and anywhere. They are a four step design, 20 inches high and can hold up to 150 lbs, yet they are lightweight and have a non-slip step. They report, “You get the biggest bang for your buck” with this product.
However there is no padding on the steps if your pet is in need of a softer landing and they are just 16 inches wide so possibly not a good bet for a very large animal.
All 3 of the review sites (Best, Spruce Pets, My Pet Needs That) put these same USA-made stairs in the top 10 choices for 2021.

The Spruce Pets
2025 top 8 choices include USA Best Pet Supples linen and foam cat and dog stairs. Spruce also chose these USA-made stairs in their 2021 top picks. They like that these stairs are lightweight and easy to move around although they are bulky.
Available in several different heights and colors, they come with a removable and washable linen cover. Thick pure certified foam is good for joints. But do check on weight and heighth limitations.

Pure Wow
This group chooses USA-made Best Pet Supplies (shown above) as their ‘best overall’ of their 10 top pet stair products in 2024.
What they like:
- CertiPUR-US Certified foams are manufactured without harmful chemicals
- three height options
- 17 color options, washable cover
What they did not like:
- not tall enough for high beds
- not ideal for heavy dogs
Pure Wow also chose USA-made Pet Safes’ CozyUp Folding pet stairs (first image above) as best for large dogs.
What they like:
- easy to clean
- wide and deep steps
- foldable for easy storage
What they dislike:
- not very pretty
- not ideal for small dogs
Again, you need to check on the stair width best for your fur pal, the weight and size of your pet, weight supported by the stairs or ramp, as well as the materials used for safety. Also consider your pet’s grip on the stairs, and ease on your pet’s joints, and the heighth you need when deciding what to purchase.
So there you have it! Check out our great USA-made pet stairs if your pet is in need of some help getting up on your sofa, chair, bed, or into your car. You may just be adding time to your pet’s life but, without a doubt, some ease and comfort.
