What are the best ways to keep our pets in good health? There are quite a number of ways we need to remember to ensure our pets remain good and healthy. Follow along the avenues to your pet’s good health to discover those that best apply for your pet.

Daily Care and Preventative Measures

It’s obvious we check on them daily to see how they are feeling and responding. And remembering any needed vaccinations and preventative steps with vet suggested supplements. Also we use good natural food, and plenty of toys and resources for activity and exercise. All good for our pets’ well being. Also being aware of their surroundings is vital. Attention to temperature control for our aquarium buddies, and hot and cold extremes for our feathered friends and fur buddies is most important too.

Grooming / Meds / Supplements

Keeping them brushed regularly with their nails trimmed as needed and a good bath are all in order together with regular vet check-ups.

Some great USA-made grooming product supplies can be found through PureandNaturalPet.com of Connecticut, SkoutsHonor.com of California, and RichardsOrganics of New York from SynergyLabs.com.

Vet check-ups and ID tags are a good source for pet health and to keep our pet babies safe and well. Preventative meds like flea and tick collars or sprays, ear and eye wipes, glucosamine for joint issues, heartworm, and more Vet recommended pet supplements. See Seresto.com for USA-made flea and tick help. For grooming, supplements, and probiotic products see BestShotPet.com of Kentucky and/or Skout’s Honor.com of California.

Dental Care

To start off early with dental cleaning and dental treats is so very important since it is known that our fur buds will develop periodontal disease by age 3 if no care is provided. And there are several good USA-made products available today through Oxyfresh.com of Idaho, SkoutsHonor.com of California, PetSmile.com of New York, Pet Honesty.com of Texas, and Zymox.com of Illinois. Products range from water additives, to finger brushes, toothpaste, dental treats, sprays, and more.

Take a look at “How to prevent periodontal disease with USA-made pet products”. Additional links to good info are located here.

Good Natural Food & Treats

Safety in food choices is a major item also, particularly if your pet has allergies of any kind. USA-made with natural ingredients is best. Have you looked through the ingredient list on your pet’s food? Read up on how to understand pet food ingredients at “Understanding pet food labels“.

The same guidelines apply to your pet’s treats. If they are having trouble eating or chewing, do they now need mainly soft foods?

Portland Pet Food Company.com of Oregon, Open Farm Pet.com of Canada manufacturing in the USA, and Blue Buffalo.com available in your local pet stores and grocery stores, are all good products — not only healthy but tasty as well.

Remember to check our FDA.gov site to check for pet food recall information. Even most reliable pet food companies run into trouble at times and will submit a voluntary recall.

For self-awareness in “essential pet poison prevention tips & recommendations” you will find a list of bad toxic foods and good natural foods for your fur buds. Some inexpensive natural treats are also noted there for both cats and dogs.

Anxiety Relief and Stranger Danger

Does your fur bud run when visitors appear or hide or show aggressive behavior? Maybe your best pet friend needs an anxiety vest or a calming CBD chew. Have you checked all these great USA anxiety products out?

HealersPetCare.com of Washington offers a lightweight, breathable vest. Pet Honesty.com of Texas provides natural calming chews as does WildOne.com of New York. How about a treat puzzle or treat toy for your fur or feathered friend? Catamazing.com of New Jersey has treat puzzles available and SodaPup.com in Colorado provides treat toys. For your best birdy, PrevuePet.com of Illinois offers fun avian toys.

If you know someone unfamiliar to your pet is due to visit and, in this circumstance your fur baby is uneasy or overly protective, a temporary muzzle or other restraint may be in order. Or a temporary enclosed space would be another solution. If it is simply an anxiety issue, time to break out the vest or calming chew.

Arthritis / Aging / Accidents

Does your pet bud have an ailment making it hard to climb? Or is arthritis, or aging asking too much of them? Have you checked out pet stairs? Have you checked with your vet about using glucosamine and/or chrondroitin, two joint issue supplements?

Pet Stairs can help with all of the above-mentioned issues. See my post reviewing pet stairs.

Property Safety, Inside and Out

It is time to check your yard, fences, and, gates for any needed repairs. Have you considered a Catico to keep your cat happy and safe outside? Inside it is good to check on cords or cupboards accessible to pets and secure them from getting into any hazardous areas or products. A quick trip to the hardware store may be in order for a simple door latch or cord enclosure product.

On that note, do you have a pet gate to keep your doggy out of a particularly dangerous pet area in your home?

Riding and Walking Considerations

Is your leash, collar, and/or harness in good condition? Is your ID tag up to date?

Have you invested in a safety tested car carrier, and safety harness? Or, does your fur bud need a ramp to help enter and exit your vehicle?

Are you aware of the GPS locating devices to track your pet if lost?

Are you a boat owner? Do your animals like playng in the water? Have you purchased flotation devices for them?

In hot or cold weather, booties protect your animal’s paws from hot tarmac in summer and frost in winter. Another helpful alternative is paw wax. And, since our animals are mostly living ‘inside’ , warm and wet weather gear is also in order.

Pet Insurance

Pet Insurance is a must these days with vet prices. See a list of recommended insurance carriers in my post “Pet Insurance Update….“.
