We are rapidly progressing through Summer. Let’s consider some some sensible tips to make living easy for and with our pets. The beach beckons. The dog park harkens. Poolside awaits. Ah, the beauty of summer. For you and your pet dogs more daylight means more outside walkin’ time, and perhaps for your pet kitty, too. If not, they can enjoy more window and deck bird watching. And your pet birdy can sing up more songs while providing fun sounds and entertainment for your aquarium buddies.

Flea & Tick Protection
As long as you have parasite protection, pet living should be more comfortable. Use some good USA-made flea & tick products like Adams Pet Care.com of Arizona, EarthAnimal.com of Maryland, and PetIQ.com of Idaho.
Water & Shade Access
You know how uncomfortable summer heat might become for yourself. Remember all the USA-made cooling products available for your pets…from cooling beds and pads and pools to window kitty seats, birdy baths, and aquarium temperature gauges and treats. Check out some of those items in “Protect your pets from summer heat“.

As long as you have access to water and shade for your pets, they should be good. Remember to take water with you if traveling, even just out for the day, for your pets. TetonDog.com of Utah provides collapsible pet water bowls. If home, it’s a good idea to refill your fur bud’s and feathered friend’s water bowl. If you have an aquarium, check their heat gauge and, if heating up, disengage the heater.
Maybe this is the summer to teach your cat or dog to kayak with you. There are great dog parks to exercise and maybe even cool off in a creek for your doggo but what about your kitty. If you do decide to go kayaking, do get a good life jacket not only for yourself but for your pet too!

Hot Cars / Pavement – Protect Paws and Noses
Take a look back at my recent post on pet summer safety for great information to continue on your summer easy living with your pets! Especially important is to NEVER LEAVE YOUR PET ALONE IN A CAR IN SUMMER. IT ONLY TAKES TEN MINUTES FOR HEATSTROKE!!!
If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your pet bud’s paws. Consider booties and/or paw balm for your pet. Booties are available from Healer’s Pet Care in Washington, all USA. Paw and nose balm are available from Skout’s Honor.com in California.
