This week starts with Easter Sunday and deep seated religious beliefs in Jesus arising from the dead. And all of the Easter egg hunts representing new births. It carries on with Zoo Med‘s celebration of International Turtle & Tortoise week and their free educational seminars for school kids new learning opportunities on April 21st through the 25th. The week ends on Saturday, Earth Day, when we bless our planet by cleaning up and planting trees and flowers for the birds and bees and longevity of Planet Earth. So it appears Spring is definitely here in full force.
No wonder with new beginnings in Spring that we choose the term “spring cleaning” to clear out and begin anew…in our homes and offices and setting personal and professional goals. And the time for ‘springing forward’ in our every day time zones. It’s our time of renewal and rebirth. This is a time of hope and beauty. See all the flowers blooming and the trees sprouting new foliage. It is a truly blessed time of our year.
The very last day of April is designated as “Adopt a Pet Day“. How very fitting with new beginnings and springing forward to rescue a pet in need of a forever home. And beginning the week of May is honoring all our pets with National Pet Week. Following closely is the famous Westminster Dog Show naming new champions. World Turtle Day on April 23rd is next to celebrate, nurture and protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats.
What are you going to do this Spring to beautify and care for your world and ours?? Let us know how you celebrate in the comments below on the left. I have already cleaned and planted my outside deck with pansies, impatiens, snap dragons, an Alaskan fern, and a Maiden Hair fern. It brightens my day. Next I am volunteering to clean up and plant with my local citizens in our downtown area. My cat appreciates the flowers too.
