What better time to honor the bond with our fur buds than March 23, our National Puppy and Cuddly Kitten Day! There is no denying the love, comfort, companionship, even protection, we receive from our furry friends every day. These guys and girls evoke laughter and smiles from us. And when we are experiencing a dark day, they tend to bring us up and out and into a happy place.
There are several ways to honor our bond with our puppies and kittens:
- Volunteer at a rescue or shelter in your local area.
- Adopt a rescue puppy or kitten yourself and save a rescue animal. Bring a playmate home to your older fur friend.
- Donate to help a shelter or any pet care facility of your choice.
- Shower your feline or canine with extra special treats and together time.
- Share your fur babies’ pictures with friends and on social media.
And do take a gander at bonding with your new kitty.

My Rescue
Just over a year ago I became a new pet parent to an adorable rescue kitty who was just two years old. I found her through Cats Meow Cat Rescue in Gladstone, Oregon. We have bonded greatly and continue to learn to trust each other more and more. She still has a fear of giving up any control, ie, going into her carrier or stroller. And she definitely is not happy with a harness on her back. We are learning together. See some fun pics of my fur baby:
