You may know that April, May, and June are months all about turtles and tortoises. Zoo Med Labs in San Luis Obispo, California devotes a full week in April to providing free educational topics for our schools on turtles and tortoises. And, all of this is concentrating on Earth Day, April 22nd, celebrated now throughout the world and the conservation of our planet, our oceans, our lands, our animals, and especially during this time on saving our endangered sea turtles and tortoises. Conservation Efforts
World Turtle Day is designated as May 23rd. Check out more detailed info here on turtles and tortoises. And in June we celebrate Sea Turtle Week: the 8th through the 16th of June with each day set aside for a specific conservation effort. See those conservation efforts listed below:
June 8th – World Ocean Day: Kickoff
June 9th: – Flatback Day: Ocean Development
June 10th – Kemp’s Ridley Day: Ocean Pollution
June 11th – Olive Ridley Day: Consumption
June 12th – Loggerhead Day: Entanglement
