Just a week ago this past Saturday my niece and nephew drove me to pick up my new kitty. So…a new kitty is in the house! Josie, short for Josephine,is her name. And, I have to say, she is now feeling quite a bit more settled and comfortable. She is not my ‘big red kitty’ but an adorable brown and white Tabby. Below are some of the fun activities for a new cat and Josie’s journey in her new home.

Tunnels and Window Sills

I am afraid I have already spoiled her with toys and fun. Yesterday her twisty tunnel came and she spent much of the afternoon squeezing through it. You can see it on Amazon. It is called Leaps and Bounds in fun colors and made in the USA. But so far, her most favorite activity is sitting on the windowsills watching the birds, squirrels and other outside activity. In fact there were so many crows flying to and fro yesterday that she raced from the bedroom sill to the living room sill to ‘catch’ them in action.

ID/Collars/Leash & Harness/Interactive Toys

Her pretty green reflective collar (LupinePet.com, all USA in New Hampshire) and ID tag have already arrived. I wanted to make sure is was a breakaway collar for safety and adjustable to fit her properly. It was a bit of a struggle to get her to wear. It looks great and she sports her collar and ID tag extremely well. I can’t wait for her leash and harness to arrive the end of this week from Up Country Inc.com of Rhode Island, all USA. It is designed in bright yellow sunflowers and is escape-proof. That, escape-proof, is a must since she has never been outside before. I am eagerly anticipating teaching her to walk with me.

In trying to find some interactive, boredom reducing toys, I found Catamazing‘s treat puzzle. They are another all USA company out of New Jersey. This group has even been featured on the popular TV program Shark Tank. When I tried to get her interested in the puzzle, it was a no go. But, I noticed after I had been out for some time that she had played with it, finding treats. A win-win after all.

Cat Trees/Scratchers

For much of her first week with me, she hid and slept under my bed. Now she is enjoying her tall cat tree and using both a high lounge spot and the little cave hideaway. Also she just started joining me on the sofa in the evening. That tells me how much more comfortable she feels.

Her foster mom was nice enough to give us Josie’s treasured scratcher to take home. Josie uses it all the time. It is starting to get pretty well worn so another is arriving a bit down the road. Americat Company in Pennsylvania, another good USA-made manufacturer, is sending another fun scratcher. See her in action>

Organic Catnip Toys

Like all felines, she does love her catnip and she does have a couple small toys filled with catnip. But arriving today, is DuckyWorld’s Yeowww Catnip Banana. Can’t wait to see her roll around and wrestle with this new toy. Did I mention, she loves belly rubs too!

Litter Box/Litter

A covered litter box is my preference and to get her used to it I just taped up the door. In another week I will try to get her used to using the door. For now it works. Naturally Fresh is my choice of litter because it is all USA out of California and natural walnut shells. Her foster folks gave me some of her known litter. That has made it so easy to get her used to the new type. I just sprinkle a little on the new and she is fine with it.

We are having a great time getting to know each other and she is settling in very comfortably. Looking forward to our new adventures. Well, maybe not the vet trips but walking in the park definitely.

Funny Animal Videos

From Big Geek Daddy, enjoy “dog shall not pass”.

And, next is “this is your internet“.

Lastly, see “a wish for a friend”.

Thanks
