On the growing trend of pet CBD –
As an overview to a great article in the Washington Post in August of 2020 CBD, correctly known as Cannabidiol, is a compound from hemp. It does Not contain THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, the marijuana compound to make one ‘high’.
It is said to help pets with their anxiety, and some skin issues. In addition, to quote, “Some studies say it can decrease arthritis pain and control seizures. It’s available in several forms, including oils, capsules, topical lotions, and dog treats.”
Also, with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill easing the restrictions on CBD products many companies, including celebrities. Many are jumping onto the band wagon to produce their own brands of CBD for pets in various flavors to capitalize on the pet CBD demand. However, CBD is still not FDA approved and still has limited research available. So, veterinarians are urging clients to be cautious about using CBD and to start slowly and with lower dosages to watch and observe their pets reactions. Also pet parents should be cognitive of additives to the CBD products and be certain that No THC is included as it can make your pet sick.

According to MediaBias/FactCheck.com, Discover Magazine shows credible scientific sourcing and is unbiased. In Discover’s March 4, 2021 newsletter, they state, “As dogs host an endocannabinoid system just like humans, they’re able to experience the same benefits of CBD as well. This includes helping with symptoms ranging from mental anguish such as anxiety to physical ailments as well. The result has left pet owners astounded with how this natural alternative has been able to help their pets with a number of different everyday issues.”
With this popular growing trend of pet CBD trend, as mentioned, many companies have started producing their own CBD products. Unfortunately, some not so good, some good. Some are just taking advantage of making extra dollars. So beware of additives to CBD and do look closely at the dosages and that they are made here in the USA. Pet Age Newsletter
I want to mention one other article which is from Pet Age in their digital newsletter of 4/29/2021. KadenwoodBrands.com of Newport Beach, California , recently introduced their CBD brand called Purity Preference in November of 2020. It is also USA-made with no THC, and is 3rd party tested. They have been established since 2019.
No Mention in Above for our Feline Friends?
What I am wondering about from the above articles is ‘what about our cats?’ Here is a quote from PetMD.com regarding CBD for our cats:

I hope all of the above information clears up some of the mystery about the current growing trend of pet CBD. I know it has for me.
